  Welcome to good shepherd

With the school year in full swing and the month of September almost behind us, we are entering into the rhythm and routines of our learning year. Our opening celebration brought us together as a circle of friends welcoming our kindergarten children, the students, families and staff members who are new to our community, as well as those of us returning. This bond of friendship is embedded within the context or our Catholic faith and greatly contributes to the warm and caring environment that is so characteristic of Good Shepherd School. No doubt your children have talked to you about our theme book, Leon’s Song and Leon, the old frog. Leon doesn’t think he has any gifts or talents as he feels the other frogs are more handsome and can swim faster and leap higher. However, when the pond is threatened, Leon finds a talent that no one - including Leon – knew he possessed.

As parents and educators, we have the incredible responsibility and privilege of working in partnership to guide and nurture our students as they discover their talents and gifts. Each child is a gift from God and with our encouragement, our students will be inspired to discover their gifts and to create community by sharing those gifts. It is our hope that all our Good Shepherd students will learn that by sharing their gifts, the beauty that is inside each of them will shine for everyone else to see and enjoy.

The month of October will afford us a wonderful opportunity to pause and be grateful for the many talents and gifts we possess. We will also give thanks for our family, friends, health, homes, moments of happiness and times of challenge. As a school community, we are also very appreciative for the many blessings we share with wonderful students, a dedicated and committed staff, and a generous and supportive parent community.

May God continue to bless us as we work together to make Good Shepherd School a place of joy where we can celebrate our God given talents and gifts.
